Meteorite?

Can someone tell me if the following is a meteorite?  It seems to look a bit like the Sterley pallasite meteorite.  It was given to me by an antiques dealer when I was a kid, he thought it might be a meteorite, but didn't know for sure.  The only other suggestion anyone has given is that it might be some sort of iron ore production by-product?

I forgot to measure it, but it's about 6cm across.

Thanks,

Jaspar

    I don't think it's a meteorite but it's strange though.

It is almost certainly a marcasite nodule.

There's a specimen somewhat like yours here, along with a useful write-up including pyrites

I think it is Marcasite as well.

Picked these three nodules up on the Holderness, a bit water rolled with being in the beach system but still the same shape.

        Yes definately Mike!

Just a quick thought - has anybody watched Meteorite men on the TV? see how the proffesionals find them usually in America but they do go around the world in there quest for space rocks.

      Hi Jaspar

Go to the 'Buy on line' at the top of the page, have a brouse, and find a book about Meteorites!
