I Found this in Skegness. On the picture on the leaft, is that mark on the top of where it has been worn down ? The piece is made of flint or maybe petrefied wood and it is very triangle shaped, and it looks like someone has cut It out by a stone. I know it could just be a pebble, but I'm just asking just incase.
It is just a flint, with some percussive fracture marks on the top. Those are probably caused by wave action rolling the pebbles about, causing them to 'chatter' on each other.
Got to agree with mike on this specimen Dan, no percussion marks that go to making a flint tool.
Keep looking though as I once met somebody from the Skeggi area who was a metal detector who used to find flint tools using his 'eyes only'
