I found this pebble on the Thames foreshore at Rotherhithe, SE London earlier this week. It caught my eye so I picked it up.
I think it is a fossil, but I don't really know anything about them, so I've been looking online for similar ones and am only managing to confuse myself!
Then I stumbled across this fantastic forum. If someone here could identify it I would be very grateful.
Could it be a coral or sponge fossil? Or something else?
looks like coral washed transported by theriver
Similar specimen found on the Holderness coast by myself.
I am not sure what it is although it looks like a coral but could it be a sponge?
