Small nest of long cocoons which are a silk like lined up

I have found a small nest of long cocoons which are silk like. all lines up together holding together two lengths of pine cladding. These were at the bottom of the garden in a pile of dried leaves. Having prised apart the two lengths the cocoons remained in tact and when pulling one end a singular cocoon would seperate from the wood but remain in tact. Very strong but almost rubber like. There is a small green grub inside which is alot smaller than its cocoon..I have a picture of them and as of yesterday they still hadnt turned. I thought they could be the wax moth but there is no evidence of a hive at all dispite the ideal area for bumblebee. Dismissing this, what could they be? aprox 4cm X .3mm and an off white colour with the greenish grub inside. I have not took a cocoon apart for fear they could be endangered.
