A new butterfly to ID:
12.08.2013 - North Italy - 650 mls
Meadow brown, Maniola jurtina
The pattern on the underwings is variable; yours is a common pattern.
There are several similar species, but I am quite confident about yours being M. jurtina.
Note that the sharper edge of the dark brown band is composed of fairly straight segments. In several of the other similar species it is composed of curvier segments.
I too thought the same thing, but I've already wrong once and did not wanted to wrong again
The Nymphalidae make me confused!
Thanks for your help!
