Mystery Skull found at Walton on the Naze

Hi

I found this skull fragment a few years ago on the strand line at Walton on the Naze.

I've narrowed it down to Artiodactyla, but haven't got any further than that.

It's small, around the same size as a muntjac skull, but I don't think it is one of those as I've managed to compare it to a muntjac skull.

It is a bit weathered unfortunately, so some of the detail has been lost.

I can't think of any current british native animals that this skull might be from.

I'd love to know what this is.  Is it a fossil?

Thanks

Charlotte
