Spider identification

I am from Glasgow and found a spider while I was cleaning out. I've always been interested in my local wildlife and I was delighted to find a spider of this size and with with such strong features. I haven't seen one like this and was wondering if anyone could identify it for me please I have attached a picture.

It is in the bottom of a pint glass for scale.

Thanks Alan

    Hi Alan,

It's one of the Tegenaria species, these commonly referred to as "house spiders" (though many other species are also often found in houses).
