Saw this beetle the other day here in Newent, Gloucestershire. It seems very like
but I can't find any confirmation that P. vittula is actually a UK beetle.
Can you help please either to confirm my ID or please tell me what it is.
Phyllotreta vittula is a UK species. There's a very useful free checklist to the British species of beetle available at The Coleopterist: http://coleopterist.org.uk/
However, I don't know if it's possible to separate P. vittula from P. nemorum or P. undulata on the basis of that photo?
Is there any distinquishing characteristics between the three, i.e., size, or variation in colour, or is it something that can only be made microscopically for the three beetles, P. vittula from P. nemorum or P. undulata?
