Hairy bug help

Hi - can anyone help to identify a large strange hairy bug, found in bedding yesterday. No photo - disposed of down the loo!

It was about 3/4 inch long. Fat body, pale fawn/brown, covered with hair (like a moth). No wings, but short legs. Slow moving. In the process of laying beige eggs in rows - like a spider's eggs. Eggs were matt, dark cream in colour and covered with some filament covering. (Disposed of these too).

Your description sounds like a female vapourer moth which are flightless and wingless. But they generally lay their eggs on their cocoons after they have mated. Maybe she got displaced. Just a thought.
