saw this caterpillar on a spike of Cockfoot grass last week (1 Aug) in an area of lowland heath near Sheffield UK.
I've checked all the common butterflies I can think of that are seen around there, but of course there are probably many more species of moth.
Is there enough in the photo for anyone to identify it? thanks
This is the larva of a sawfly ,but I'm afraid I can't be any more specific ,as there are so many similar species.
thanks TORCROSS :-)
