Small green moth

    Hi Juules,

    This is a lovely moth called July Highflyer, there are a few 'Highflyer' moths that it can be confused with, but the colour variation you have here is very much like the July Highflyer, also if it was caught recently I'd be very sure that is what you have photographed.

        Hi Again Juules,

        Yes I think I can help, this looks very much like Red Twin-spot Carpet, there is a Dark-barred Carpet that is very much like this, it has a red form that can only be decided by putting it to the axe. The Red Twin-spot carpet is however quite common, and probably what you have photographed above.  Well done on the photo, this is not an easy one to get shots of in the field!

          Yes- nice photo Juules; nice frsh specimen with fringe on wings intact and showing its two-tone markings.

          I think the reddish colour in on the wings also goes with the reddish markings on the leaves. Shame about the grass stem; I'd crop that out.
