I think this is an Ichneumon - but does anyone know the species. I realise it is a difficult group to identify, especially from a photo but......
The hoverfly which was attacking the wasp is , I think, a Syritta pipiens. The plant in my garden is Lovage .
This one may actually be identifiable (though not by me with certainty). I suspect it's Gasteruption jaculator.
