I recently read that it is possible to extract microfossils from flint.
I got some flint meal from the garden and put it in some 70% vinegar I checked it in 15 minutes and I saw this interesting ' grain of sand' I looked at it using a kids microscope we got at the museum yesterday. :)
So any information on what it is and how it lived would be very much appreciated.
Congratulations! You have discovered the world of forams (or stictly speaking, Foraminifera).
They are tiny but really pretty neat. Here's a nice illustration of some of their shapes
