I was bitten by a spider in my garden and this morning I took a picture of a spider in my garden that looks the same only smaller.
Not sure what it is
Ah, now the second image is Steatoda nobilis, one of the false widows. They are capable of giving a bite, similar in pain level to a wasp sting so I'm told (I've not seen one here in Suffolk so I don't know). But there are people who contribute to this forum who happily live alongside them in their houses and don't find them a problem.
Im in sunbury middlesex. i appear to have quite a few of these spiders in my garden. I was quite surprised at how painful the bite was. Are the bites dangerous as my fingers and hand are swollen, sore and itchy?
Thye NHM used to have a page on this website about spider bites but I can't find it. However, I did find this page about Steatoda nobilis that might be useful -
I'm sure there's lots of other information on the web too.
For what its worth here is the spider bite page - I found it dificult to locate too
