Hi I have photographed what looks like a large Sawfly but would be grateful if someone could help identify it and comment on its rarity/significance, many thanks.
What great pics, possibly of a Cimbex Luteus, (Cimbicididae) broad-bodied sawfly that feeds on willow or poplar leaves as a larva
Thanks for this, I have looked up Cimbex sp. on the web, with comments that these are not common. I wondered if this might be "connatus" as various images look similar? Many thanks for your comments.
