Spider identification?

I found a spider In my garden (Hampshire, England) and it is very much spider like as it weaves webs, has 8 eyes etc, but it's two front legs are three times as large as its other legs and only has 6 legs (and the rest were not torn off) unfortunately I have not been able to send a photo.

I know you say that legs have not been torn off the spider in question, but they are often seen with limbs missing.

Other spiders habitually stand/hang in webs with their 4 frontmost legs bunched closely together and it can be quite hard to see that they actually have 8 legs. Aranaeus diadematus (European garden spider) is sometimes seen in this kind of pose, also Pisaura Mirabilis (Nursery web spider). Is it possible that this is the case (given the reported size of the "2 front legs")?
