I saw the tiny white eggs on top of a rocket lettuse leaf, when I turned it over I saw what I thought were also eggs but black and round.
Then they started moving onto the eggs, stayed there for a while then went back under the leaf and clustered together.
They are very small so pictures difficult, but please have a look.
They have 6 legs and I think they probably have wings. Dark amost black colour with a reddish stripe across the lower back and 2 antenna at the front..
I think one must have hatched and is a paler version of the adults, but I can't see a discarded egg!..
So if you could tel me what these are I'd be very grateful..
They're bug nymphs, and empty eggs.
I would guess they are one of the green shield bugs, ie. Nezara viridula or Palomena prasina; more probably the latter (from what I can see of the creatures in your photo)
See other pages on that site, too - it is a great resource for UK bugs (Hemiptera).
Thanks Mike... I didn't even concider shield bugs because the shape of the ones I have is so very different to an adult shield bug!!
