What kind of spider?

Just found this in my house this morning... do I need to be worried? Or is it just a type of house spider? Haven't seen this one before!

It's a spider that is commonly found in & around houses but it is not the traditional "house spider" (Tegenaria species).

Your spider is a male Steatoda nobilis AKA a false widow. I like false widows and have resident females around the home, but I would relocate the male outside, or to a shed/outbuilding. The females often set home in a web & don't venture far from that, but the males go a wandering and can end up in all sorts of places (had one living in my shower for a while...wasn't too comfortable with that).

Don't panic though - whilst they can bite, they very rarely do & they are not aggressive and usually flee & hide when confronted.
