We moved into a new barn conversion with new carpets a month ago and have an infestation of small beetle type bugs. They seem to be coming up from the skirting board and there a lot on the window sills each morning but to me they look more like woodworm than carpet beetles. Husband thinks they are carpet beetles. They are about 3-5 mm and brown so not varied carpet beetle. Any advice on telling the difference as I am terrified they are woodworm. I am unable to take a close up photo unfortunately.
Hello,
You could send us a few specimens in a small plastic tube for an ID:

Small brown beetles may ba a number of things. I'm afraind we can't ID them from just a description, without a photo at least. Biscuit Beetles are a common Furniture Beetle lookalike.

Thank you. Am posting one today
I would just like to thank the advisory service for such a prompt identification when I sent the sample in. Thank you very much for your assistance
You're welcome! Biscuit Beetles after all.

Unfortunately they were identified as furniture beetles but at least now I know and am working out what to do.
