Hi - My daughter and I were walking on our local beach in Prestatyn tonight after some very rough weather and we found this small skull in amongst the broken shells.
The skull was (we left it on the beach) approximately 14cm in length and about 7cm at its widest part.
There were some vertebrae still attatched which as you can see from the pictures attatch to the skull very high up. This, coupled with the eye socket position and the two nostril holes on the top of the skull, and the skulls overall low profile have me thinking it might be from some sort of crocodilian or lizard.
Thing is this, if I am right then it would surely be a fossil - the skull was still pliable, and the fact there were vertebrae still attached suggests it isnt that old!?!?!?
Help please! - The more I think about it, the more I wish I had brought it home with me!
Not embarrassing at all stubb-z - the great thing is that you were curious enough to find out what it was. And now you know .... and so does your daughter; they don’t teach you this stuff in school. That makes you a brilliant dad. I take my hat off to you.
