Huge spider found in shed in Devon - please help me ID it!

My brother has just moved house at the weekend and when shifting stuff out of the shed he found this HUGE spider.

In the picture of his wife holding the broken pot, you can see how big it is (her hand is really close to the spider as it's only a half-pot) I think the size rules out the False Widows (Steatoda nobilis / grossa) despite the Devon location, as I've read that the biggest females only get up to about 15mm (body) from what I've seen online?  This one looks like 2cm+ to me but hard to tell.  He said it had red stripy legs, which you can see in one of the pics.  Sorry the pics are bit blurry, probably due to scared shaky hands!!

I'm never going in a shed again!!!
