Posting on behalf of my parents (who don't have internet access at the moment) so i am working on slightly limited information-
They found this skull - presuming it is a skull! Washed up on a beach in Portugal after some rough weather.
My mum describes it as having 'a 2inch diameter vertebrae sticking out the end & cartilage fins on top. About the size of the end of a shovel"
The "fins" sticking out of the top is what lead us to think fish? See image with lighter for scale.
Hoping to get an image of the underneath later and i will upload it when i can.
Any help identifing it would be greatly appreciated!
Looks very simillar to one of these:-
"Le thon rouge d'Atlantique" internet serch of this name leads to Thunnus thynnus the English of which is Blue fin Tuna. So why Rouge I hear you cry - I have no idea.
Heres another link to blue fin tune skulls
Thank you very much John, that definately looks the same! I have let my parents know and they were thrilled to finally find out what it was!
