    Hi,

I took the liberty of sending your pictures to a friend who works at local Botanic Garden and happens to be an expert on Rhododendrons.

    His reply was...

"This could well be Rhododendron griffithianum.  The large calyx is the give-away.  There are a number of cultivar hybrids, so I could not give a definitive answer.  R. griffithianum is comparatively tender but could be grown in Devon or Cornwall."

I hope that helps you get a little closer to identification...

    Best wishes,

    Jen
