Hi there, I have photograph a snake fly yesterday and am trying to identify it. I gather looking at the wings it is possible identify to an individual species. Is there any pdf's with the wing veination characteristics for each species.
The snakefly was caught and photographed amongst grass below pine and birch trees at Alness Point, Cromarty Firth. Images on home computer but can send if required.
Having checked the Buglife's Scottish Species list there is only one, Atlantoraphidia maculicollis which fits as it was found below Scots pine trees in grass when sweep netting. Appears to be the most northly record in the UK by a few miles based on the NBN gateway.
