We have noticed a very stange bug in one or our banks in Cornwall. It does not look like a beetle as it does not seem to have wng cases. Its about the size of a 20 p piece. The attached images give an idea of what its like. Does anyone know what it might be ?
This is the larva of the bloody-nosed beetle, Timarcha tenebricosa.
We had one on this forum a couple of years ago,
identified by 'bombuslucorum - Museum ID team'

Robert Henno (Biosphoto) has a great photo of it

That also explains its name: 'when threatened it exudes a drop of bright red fluid from the mouth'
