Are these bird mites?

Our upstairs bathroom has been infested with these bugs for a few days now (see attachments). They are really small and hard to see, the largest ones are up to 1mm long and dark in colour. The smallest ones are almost transparent. They are constantly moving and move quite quickly, and they are pretty evenly spread over all the surfaces except the ceiling and the floor. After wiping the walls etc they come back in a few hours, but it's hard to see where they come from.

The reason I suspected bird mites is that there is a birds nest on the wall outside, and we also have some of these bugs in another room sharing the same wall. But no-one has been bitten by them so far, and bird mites are supposed to be able to bite humans

If they are bird mites, is there any chance they will just die off in a week or so, or is removing the birds nest the only way to get rid of them?

Thank you.

These look like red mites of poultry Dermanyssus gallinae, but I'm not an expert, so you may need a second opinion. If I'm right, here is some info:

Can anyone confirm that these are poultry red mites?  I keep poultry and have treated the pens thoroughly, but I'm sure I have them in my house.  I am scratching all the time I am sat in the house and I have had them crawling in my hair.  I assume they are not so red because they are not feeding on the poultry.
