This rock was found in the sand dunes on the Cumbrian coast in 1999
Does anyone have any idea of its likely origin and identification?
First impression: a pebble of volcanic rock.
The tiny recesses are where minerals have been selectively eroded.
But your close-up is too out-of-focus to help. Can you manage to get one in focus?

Yes, they are aimed primarily at ascertaining if an object is a meteorite or not, but they can point in other directions, too.
