Had some luck today and got a photo of the spider emerging, it seemed like it came out to investigate when I put the flash on.
I have also exchanged the small photos for these ones so you can zoom in.
It's a web I have never seen before, it's in the old toilet at work "Northampton, UK" this toilet is due to be decorated soon.
There is a spider in the ball like structure (about the size of a marble) in the centre of the web it has about 1.5cm long legs that are very slim. As far as I can tell it has a creamy/white spot on it's back (one of these photos shows this). The black dot on the top of the ball seems to be some sort of door, the spider can open and close this.
I am going to attempt to get a vidio of it.
Would it be safe for me to remove this spider before the decoraters come?
Please, any info, please.

Thank you for your reply "jaguarondi" I have put new photos on today.
I have always been interested in any British wildlife and I have always done my best to try to preserve what we are lucky enough have.
I have never seen a web like this.
I want to save this spider from the work men when they turn up, but I don't know what to do with it if I catch it "would it be safe to catch it?".
again many thanks sue.
I too would be interested in seeing some higher quality photos. The web does look interesting.
Best wishes Lewis,
This is the best my camra can do, I will ask at work if anyone has a more up to date camra but most of them just use their phone.
I will work on getting better photos.
