Unknown Spine, Alfred Denny Museum Sheffield

Seen at the Alfred Denny Museum,  Animal and Plant Sciences department University of Sheffield .

Unknown date, origin and collector.

Any ideas would be great, this specimen was in a case, as a result picture taking was limited.

I have booked a place to visit again on the 6th April 2013 so I am trying for a little one-upmanship

on the students and Curator but so far have drawn a blank.

This looks like five vertebrae from a giraffe. In photo 15, off the edge to the left is the first vertabrae, next is the second, in the middle is another neck vertebrae but mounted the wrong way round I think, next is a thoracic vertebrae, definately the wrong way round and finally a lumbar vertebrae, the correct way round. Some of the records library at Sheffield University was destroyed during the war and, therefore, specimens collected before this time have no data.
