I photographed this last summer near Madrid and I cannot find anything like it in my European insect guide.
Notes: antenna has 9 or more segments, wings deep red/brown, abdomen black with white rings, thick tibial sections on all legs. (Photo rotated to meet website limits).
Anyone know what this is?
It sure is Alan - a longhorn beetle (Cerambycidae) and one of the Stenopterus species, Stenopterus ater is a possibility but there are a few similar looking species.
Thanks for your help (esp. on a Sunday). My guide (Chinery) lists 35 longhorns, not one of them Stenopterus. Is there a better one you would recommend?
