I have found numerous bugs in my house. In the wardrobe, laundry pile, bathroom etc. They are MM in length are brownish yellow in appearance, seem to be striated (but only upon very close inspection),, have 6 legs, 2 antenna, are not hairy, bit do look silky. They have only 2sections-head and abdomen. I can't take a useful picture as the image becomes unclear when I zoom. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for your prompt response. I think they differ slightly from both the carpet and biscuit beetle. Their abdomen seems ssilky like a spider and they are 2 mm. I'll try and get a clear picture asap..
Oops, in a bit of moderation haste, I've accidentally removed poppy's post. The one that Bird Wocha responded to said:
"Similar, but the antenna and legs are smooth, not serrated."
Sorry about that!
I have taken some pictures, but cannot seem to be able to upload them. Click on the flicker link to view and i will continue trying!!
I'd say Golden Spider Beetle, as per my second link in my first reply and Florin's reply.
Nice photos! He looks cute in them, BUT you need to find the source of them and remove it, eg a birds nest in your loft?
Lots of councils have info on line you can google, eg
OK, now after seeing your photos I think the insects are beetles in the same family, only a different species: Ptinus tectus.
Just search for images with this name, and compare with your specimens.
