If there were no plants, would we die quicker?

It is a well known fact that we need oxygen to survive.

We breath in oxygen and breath out carbon dioxide.

Plants 'breath' in carbon dioxide and 'breath' out oxygen.

If there were no plants surely the world would be without oxygen and instead there would be a large quantity of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere could kill us!
