Chalicodoma parietina?

I had taken some photos of carpenter bees when this caught my eye.


It was noticeably smaller than the carpenter bees and doesn't have their red eyes. Am I right in identifying this as chalicodoma parienta? (Insect photographed in central Spain in case that is significant.)

    This is a male of the Violet Carpenter Bee, Xylocopa violacea. The reddish sub-apical segments of the antennae are diagnostic for males of this species. As a male, one would expect it to be smalle than the females of the same species
