CAN ANYONE IDENTIFY THIS SPIDER?

Hi, I was just in my garden about and this caught my eye. Im in Southport UK, should I be concerned? I've never seen ones like this before. ThanksCYMERA_20121019_154635.jpg

    This is the walnut orb weaver (nuctenea umbratica), it is a native species. They are known for being a little tetchy, so I wouldn't suggest that you handle it, with bare hands, in case it gives you a nip. However, a  bite is not dangerous and this is one of a dozen UK spider capable of delivering a bite humans...though they very rarely do (compared to bee & wasp stings, for instance). Treat it with respect, but there is little cause for genuine concern.
