Update - Identification of house beetles - see updated photos in replies

I wonder if anyone can help me identify the beetles in the attached photos?

The photos aren't of the best quality but they do give the general shape and size of the beetle.

The beetle in question is a dark brown colour, approximately 5mm long. The abdomen is quite large in comparison to the head (as shown in the photo taken from above the beetle).

Over the past month or so I have found approx 15 of these beetles (on separate occasions) on the laminate floor of my kitchen. I assume that they are coming from under the floor as they seem to appear around the gap between the skirting board and the floor. Most of the ones I have found seem to be dying (lying on their backs) but a couple have been alive and well!

I have recently been doing a lot of work in the house including plastering walls and I wonder if this has disturbed them.

My main concern is that they could be a species of woodworm as I recently discovered some floorboards in the kitchen cupboard with evidence of woodworm (although this may be old activity as the house is very old). I removed the affected boards and sprayed the area with woodworm treatment.

My best guess so far is possibly some type of weevil but this is simply going from photos I've seen in books and on the net.

Any help would be much appreciated.
