Glossy Black Spider

Hi

Any help appreciated. Does anyone know what spider this is?

Black glossy abdomen about the size of a pea. Legs look pointy.

Sorry not got a better picture, looked away to get something and it was gone

Thanks

Andrew

    Hello there.

This looks like our most widow like, false widow Steatoda grossa.

    Hi,

Yes I would say Steatoda grossa , but the abdomen looks a little less than glossy compared to the specimen I have seen. This may be due to the poor lighting. Did you notice any markings on its abdomen?

The more I look at this picture the more I think it is S.bipunctata. The slight flattening of the abdomen and the legs look perhaps a little too short and there could be a hint of banding on them here and there.
