Hi anyone any ideas what these are, taken in our kids veg garden? - The last photo is of a daddy long legs with parasites..nice, just wondering if the parasites have a name and what they're eating... head or blood?
'Daddy' is a fly (Tipulidae), and the red bugs on it could be some parasitic mites (Erythraeidae). I've seen them hitching a ride on harvestmen (Opiliones, also known as Daddy long legs).
For more information about these organisms, please follow the links below:
Your photo IMGP4097.JPG shows a true bug (Hemiptera), possibly Eurygaster testudinaria.
It looks like it has recently moulted (with the exuvia next to it).
The bug in photo IMGP4090.JPG is a Dock Bug (Coreus marginatus).
The one in photo IMGP4088.JPG looks like the same species, but a young one (nymph).
I hope this helps.
The grasshopper in your photo IMGP4089.JPG is a Common Field Grasshopper (Chorthippus brunneus).
