Sorry about the poor lighting but I found this stuck to my curtain when I went to close it. Its about an inch wide (Just to give you an idea on how big it is!) It looks very fluffy almost like a animal but its deffinatly NOT a piece of fluff. I was thinking maybe a caterpiller or some kind of moth? Its yellowy/orange. I have never in all my life, seen anything remotely simalar too this. I have got 2 lumps on me which are painful like stinging nettle stings which have grown from a tiny dot to about 1cm in size which I originally thought was from a bug bite (although all bug bites I recieve have been itchy not painful!) but I think it may have come from this bug?? Any advise would be greatly recieved.
This is the gorgeous caterpillar of the Sycamore moth, which feeds on leaves not anything in the house. Some groups of moths have caterpillars with irritant hairs but not this group so I doubt that this is the cause of your lumps. Outside is where it would like to be and it is almost certainly ready for pupation.
Thank you so much, I've been trying to google like mad trying to find what it is, I wonder how it got in the house and up the curtain?! I guess i've been bitten by something else. I've got 2 white welts that are now sweating in just the bitten/sting area and they have red dots in the middle of them, I've never had bite like this and because I touched the fluff as I pulled the curtain across I thought it was caused by the same thing.
