I found these bugs on a walk on the Broads. I can't identify the larger one 15mm long ? and wondered if the other one is a different species or just imature. John
I'm not too hot on bugs, but could it be a final instar Coreus marginatus or Dock Bug.
It's definitely the Dock Bug, Coreus marginatus.
Compare this photo. Both of them are nymphs. Different stages of their development can be seen on this page.
(So, it is still the Coreus marginatus week... Are you ready for the WCSBs, Lewis, when do we get the first?)
Thanks everyone. I've just moved to Suffolk and I keep finding insects I've never seen and dragonflys are almost too common to notice, Entomologists heaven! John
