I found this lovely non-angiosperm growing on calcareous grassland (Irish Midlands)in Early Aug. I think that it may be a sege of some kind. There was just a single specimen.
Without a picture of the whole plant, it's difficult to tell what it is. I would plumb for Juncus phaeocephalus, the Brownhead Rush or a close relative.
I'm sure an expert will correct me if I'm wrong
