I took the attached picture 4 years ago in Eartham Woods W.Sx 16/07/2008, and to date have not been able to establish an ID. Sussex Wildlife were unable to confirm. I hope for success as its been bugging me! I am usually able to ID myself through reference, but failed on this occasion. Is it a dark bush cricket nymph...I think not. The pronotum at this stage appears transparent. I would like it to be a scaly cricket but again I do not think so. Any suggestions or firm ID would be most welcome. Thanks.
I don't hink the nymph can be identified from this photo alone, but we can always speculate. My best guess is: Grey Bush Cricket Platycleis albopunctata. The 'saddle' on its pronotum is really narrow in the middle, and its legs are a bit speckled. I couldn't find similar photos, but those on this Flickr collection are pretty close:
