Spider Bite ??

HI any advice please. Just got back off holiday on a narrow boat in the uk staffordshire. Wed morning work up with a itchy arn and small purple spot.Twelve hours later swelling & pain over a 100mm area (pice below)

Twenty four hours swollen hand and arm up to elbow postules burst & weeping stiff & painful  (no pic)

Forty eight hours(present) swelling beginning to subside slowly raw wound and some skin peeling further a field (pic below). Possibley two distinct punctures.

Did a search around the bed today as I could only think it was caused while I was a sleep by a spider and found this beasty lurking. Never had a reaction to any insect bite this bad before and have never been bitten by a spider. Could this be the culprit. I thought it was a woodlouse spider but the pictures I have looked at indicate the upper torso is all brown and the bite info on the site suggest a nettle type sting clearing in a few hours.

Size about 10mm

    Hi Reginald,

Your friend looks very much like a drassodes lapidosus or cupreus (stone spider) which would be quite capable of delivering an uncomfortable bite. They do wander indoors from time to time.

        Well Reginald,

On the bite symptoms front, I'd say you have the latest & most up to date info! :-)

I have been bitten a few times by spiders (cleaning window frames is always a good opportunity to get a nip), some just feel like a splinter, some can be tender & swollen for a couple of days...but I'd be surprised if symptoms persist for much longer than that.

You seem to be taking it in your stride anyhow...:-)

        Regards, Mark.

I had a drassodes arrive with my groceries delivery this week, must be a special promotion or something?;-)

Anyhow, she very kindly posed for some photos before being set free...

Yours is a Drassodes but I think Reginald's was a Clubiona. I'm basing that partly on the distance betweeen the posterior median eyes. Clubionas aren't noted for biting though I see no reason why one of the larger species shouldn't be capable of giving a nip as they have powerful jaws.
