These green shieldbugs become brown towards the end of the warm season.

I think both of these are Common Shield Bugs Palomena prasina.

What may look like differing colours in the same species are most likely a different type of shield bug altogether, or an immature member of the same family.
When it comes to Palomena prasina it is green in the summer, but becomes brownish in the autumn. Very confusing - it is difficult enough from the beginning!
