I;ve got a moth trap and I've recently been catching bugs in it then one day I found a bug that was about 2 and a half cm"s long that hasd three yellow spots on the side of its back on both sides sadly my Mum and Dad wern't there to take the picture and I hadn't heard of this forum back then so I wasn't going to get the picture but I wonderd if any would have any idea of what the bug could of been also it had orange mites all over its body I said this just to see if that gave you a clue to what the orange mites like!!
No it was the other way round it had yellow spots instead of black spots and in this case the yellow parts was the black part!!!
This sounds like one of the Nicrophorus genus of burying beetles. They are common visitors to moth traps and are usually covered in mites. The spots are orange-red but you could have had a faded example.
Here's a picture:
I would recommend not handling these, as they inhabit rotting animal carcasses, they generally carry disease and stink pretty badly.
Thankyou your right they're disgusting but pretty at the same time I didn't handle it luckily because I thought it may carry diseases as well
