I found this little spider crawling through my lawn as I was watching the red ants setting off to fly. It was about 2-3mm long carrying some red egg shaped things. Can you shed any light on what they are (and the identity of the spider)? Thanks, Bill.
They're mites. General opinion amongst biologists are that they're fairly harmless and just hitching a ride (to a better feeding area, say). But, on a small money spider like this, having to cart them around could be drain on energy.
