Gardener where we were staying (Old Victorian Rectory) was throwing out but did not know the name. Almost thistle like leaves. Would like to identify to grow in own garden.
It's an Acanthus, which one I'm not sure. I'm sure if you post another picture showing the complete plant, someone will tell you exactly which one it is.
The leaves have been used for centuries as a pattern for many architectural motifs.
Thanks. I Googled some images and pretty sure it is Acanthus Spinosus http://www.west-crete.com/flowers/photos/acanthus_spinosus-3large.jpg http://www.west-crete.com/flowers/acanthus_spinosus.htm
