I found this plant poking out of the Privet hedge in my local church on the Wirral, UK. It looks for all the world like an Oak. The only thing is when I moved the privet back to check the main stem I couldn't find it. All I could see was a thin branch system identical to that of the privet. I even went around the wall to the opposite side and looked but there was no trunk, only what appeared to be all privet stems.
The surface of the leaf feels slightly rough and dryer than the Privet and the leaves were about 4 or 5 inches long. It has to be an Oak, (doesn't it?) If so what type?
