Can you help to identify

Observed 08/07/12. West Oxfordshire/ Water meadow. 20m from stream. 120m from woodland.

About 4 cm long with distinctive black and white banded antenna.

First thought was Asian long-horned beetle, but didn't seem black enough.

Any thoughts much appreciated

It is an Agapanthia villosoviridescens. Its larva lives in thistles. And it is 10-22 mm long - antennae don't count! Never!
