Answered - Can someone identify these rocks?

The green rocks have been found in my field in kent, the black rock was found in my dads field in yorkshire. I`m intrested in what they are, how old and do they have any value.

Thanks

Both rocks look to me like slag, and are probably the by-products of smelting, the different colours being caused by the different minerals present in the original ore, and additives used in the smelting process.

They are both definitely slag, everything about them is characteristic of it - the blue/green or black colour, the flow structures, the air bubbles, the texture and colour variation. They particularly look like silicate slags from iron smelting. The attached fact sheet explains about slag and how it ends up in your field

yes sorry mate its defo slag pretty and all that but of no value. they use it here in London and everywhere else on paths / roads  its silica mixed with othr stuff almost same as Volcanic glass but waste from our past when we actually made stuff used to collect it myself thinking it was agate till i got older also u can see bubbles in it which telss u it was molten and cooled fast Unlike most minerals which grow slowly etc...

Can't but agree with previous posters - I was very close to be the first replier bud didn't know what the word for "slagg" (Swedish) was in English.
