Hi found these in river bank sediment after recent flooding (river is in North Wales), they are a scapula and part of a pelvic bone but im not sure what they came from possibly Equine or Bovid having trouble getting a handle on which
looks like deer ,so take that into account but take other views to help
Hi Window this is a possibility I hadnt thought of , the bones seem to be only partially mineralised and Im not sure when deer were last known of in this area of NE wales, probably around the romano-to middle ages or earlier ? any way I will take more photos to give you a better all round view of the bones .
I have found other bones and teeth in the river that exhibit varying degrees of preservation, mineralisation and age
some have been identified as late pleistocene/early Holocene . These were probably washed out of the glacial deposits that cover the area
